THANK YOU!
As of today, I have officially closed down the VintageSleds.com store. I have a lot of other things I would like to pursue, but there just isn't enough time in a day, so something had to go.
I just want to thank the hundreds of customers who made it a success and helped support VintageSleds.com. I really do appreciate it!
All pending hood orders can be picked up at Arctic Restorations this weekend (call them for details) or will be shipped early next week. All the store merchandise is very nearly gone (check the classifieds for the list of what is left if you are interested.) and all current orders have been shipped.
Again, thank you!
BOSS CAT I IT'S BACK!
Well I never thought anyone of us would ever have the chance to see this again! The original Boss Cat I burned to the ground in a fire at Arctic Cat in the early 1970's. The sled was built for the early 70's speed wars being waged between all the factories. A lot was at stake if any manufacturer gained the title "The World's Fastest Snowmobile".
The Boss Cat I had a Turbine engine it. It exploded on one of it's earliest runs. Driver Dale Cormichan was injured in that blast. It was later rebuilt and put in an Arctic Cat museum.
The project to rebuild Boss Cat I got under way just over a year ago and started with the only two remaining original pieces: The parachute from the original sled, which was not in it at the time of the fire, and the original 4 cylinder King-Kat motor used to start the 1,000 horsepower Turbonique brand turbine motor. That 4 cylinder motor was also not in the sled at the time of the fire. Every other piece had to be built from scratch - using photos and drawings, and prodding the memories of lot of the people involved with the original.
She's at home with her new owners now and has been re-united wtih Boss Cat II and Boss Cat III and it's all done. Expect to see it at some shows soon!
2010 SNOPRO CHAMP: ADAM HAGEN
Right after the final Vintage SnoPro race this season in Garrison, Minnesota, the points were tallied up and Wasilla Alaska's Adam Hagen and his Arctic Cats came out on top, making it three in a row for Smith Brothers Racing!
Adam used some hot sled and dogged tenacity to come out on top - placing well in every race, and winning his fair share as well. We'll have a complete story on Adam soon. Stay tuned!
2010 HETTEEN CUP WINNER:
JACOB GOEDE
Between Borther Matt and Jacob, the Goede family race team cleaned up pretty much every class they were in for the Glenwood Minnesota race. A very good crowd was on hand to watch the Polaris drivers take home a good deal of the available trophies. Between the pair, they won 340 F/A, 340 Liquid, 440 F/A, 440 Liquid, 340 IFS, 340 IFSX, 440 IFS, 440 IFSX and the 250 LQ class, as well as a pair of open classes.
Congtaulations to them - and to the Glenwood chamber for putting on a very well run race - with the VSCA's Mike Maegher doing a great job with the flags. There was a couple of "Get-offs", but everyone walked away fine.
So I believe now the names on the Hetten cup are Rugland, Coltom, Hulings, Hayes, Dimmerman, Maegher, Westlund, Johnson and now Goede. That's some very fast company to be in!
2010 JERRY BUNKE MEMORIAL
WINNER: DUNCAN REID
On the same weekend as the Hetteen cup race in Glenwood, Minnesota, the Canadian Power Tobbogan Championship was underway in Beausejour, Manitoba. Your winner for the Jerry Bunke memorial award was a Beasujour local favorite, Ski-Doo driver Duncan Reid. Duncan is back in action after a couple of years of taking a break. Good to hear Duncan's out there causing trouble once again!
In the above photo from RobByePhoto.com, Duncan passed up Troy Lefko, with Kenny Kitzman and Troy Pierce pushing hard.
DAVID JOHNSON INTERVIEW

Todd Koehn, ASCOA web master got to visit for two days with a couple that I'm very fond of - David & Eleanor Johnson.
I think of Eleanor and David as sort of the "Mother and Father" of all of the people of Roseau and to all the people that make up the "Polaris Nation". He's really an amazing guy.
Todd got this amazing interview with David - where he discusses the real origins of snowmobiles at Polaris, catching rabbits and foxes for animal management, fun with a little yellow airplane and more. What a great thing to find in the inbox this morning. Give a listen and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
CLOSEOUT SALE IN THE STORE!
We honestly over-bought a lot of products in the vintagesleds.com store this year prior to Christmas. That means we have a large amount of inventory that we really have to cut down as soon as possible. We also have a a lot of clearance items. So we cut the prices one everything we have too much of - and we cut it drastically - in many cases 50% off the normal retail prices. Check it out and order soon - when a lot of these items are gone - there will not be anymore.
GARRISON MN. RIDE, RACE & SNOPRO!
This weekend's grand finally for the Vintage SnoPro Championship will decide the title between Adam Hagen, Mike SMith, Devin Fackrell and Bill Stull. YOu do not want to miss this. Plus the race will also have late models racing, and there will be a vintage ride to go along with the festivities.
2010 JERRY BUNKE MEMORIAL RACE AT BEAUSEJOUR
Again this year, the Beausejour race will feature the Jerry Bunke Memorial race at the 48th running of the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships. The race dates are March 6&7th, and this is one of the very finest racing facilities anywhere.
The memorial will see one winner in the IFSX class win $1,000, a CPTC shirt, a hat, and beautifully mounted Jerry Bunke poster and trophy. The award can be won by the driver accumulating the most points in the 4 races over the weekend, in the the 340 and 440 IFSx classes. Superb competition on the fastest and safest track in the world, not to mention this very prestigious award! Visit cptcracing.com for registration details.
Where did the stuff go that used to be here? It got too darn big, so it was archived. Enjoy.
