2008 ASCOA SUMMER MEETING July 25, 26, 27 My name is Randy Brockman. For those who do not know me, I chaired the summer meet in 1999 at the Little Log House Antique Power Show. Again, for 2008, we will be back at this show near Hastings, MN (approximately 30 miles south of St. Paul). This year, with the help for my local snowmobile club, The Hastings Sno-Mos, our event is starting to come together. This year we will be staying at the Treasure Island Casino near Red Wing, MN, which is about an easy 12-mile rural drive to the show. The decision to stay there offered us more things to do and includes a campground for those who would like to use their camper. Room Rates are $109 per night for the hotel. Camping is $20 per night for 30 amp service (more for 50 amp). To make your reservations, contact the Treasure Island Resort and mention the Antique Snowmobile Club. (800) 222-7077. Reservations can be made anytime now. Friday night cracker barrel will be at Treasure Island. We have reserved an outdoor pavillion, which is next to the campground, so we can bring our own refreshments. Saturday night banquet and meal will be at the show. Don't forget your auction donations featuring a real auctioneer. For those of you who have been there (you will like this): Since this show covers a big area, we are working on getting us some golf carts to use. Maybe we can sign them out in 1-hour segments. We have a great venue for a snowmobile show. The sleds are in the shade and also part of the Car, truck, and motorcycle Show. We generally attract a lot of American sleds as Altona is 7 miles from the US border and only 90 miles from Grand Forks, ND. NC for the entrants and NC for the spectators. Lots of door prizes and camping right next to the Show. A great water park onsite and free swimming for this weekend. This is only one of the many events of the Altona Sunflower Festival. Plans are being made to bring back the Main Event of Vintage Snowmobile Racing to the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood, MN. A committee has been formed in Glenwood and some financial commitments are already in place for the event. At this time the plan is for a one day event which will include the running for the Hetteen Cup, a vintage snowmobile show, a vintage trail ride, and a swap meet. This committee will be meeting monthly, when more information is available, this events page will be updated. Make your plans to be in Glenwood on March, 7th, 2009! 2nd Annual Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride In Thief River Falls, MN. The show will be held at the Black Cat Sports Bar and Grill located on the south end of town on hwy. #32 on March 7th, 2009. Regestration will start at 9:00am and the ride will start at approximately 1:00pm. A 40 mile ride is planned all on groomed trails to Red Lake Falls and back with a stops on the way and back.
