Troy Moore has been restoring sleds for
a very long time. I got a chance to meet him a trip
out East a few years ago. In a modest garage converted
into a nice restoration shop, Troy has turned out what
can only be described as some of the best restoration
work ever. From RXL's (see Hank
Briscoe's 250cc RXL), TX's, Sno-Twisters, Z's and
more, Troy does the work for one reason: He just loves
the process.
What I hope to show here is not so much
a collection of sleds Troy owns, but a collection of
the work Troy has done over the years. His most recent
work is on his 76 Polaris 340cc SnoPro, and a 440 he
helped with.
Here's how Troy describes the 340: "The
76 Sno Pro was a fun project. I added a few personal
touches such as hinging the hood. I thought it would
display much better with the hood on the sled instead
of laying next to it. I have the original water pump
cover which was a full enclosed cover and I also had
the one that is one the sled but I like the looks of
that cogged belt and water pump sticking out (you know
what I'm talking about-they're cool.)"
The 440 below actually belongs to Kirk Beisel.
Here's what Kirk has to say about this one: "I
finally finished it with lots of help from Troy Moore.
I'm just waiting on my surge tank to be finished, then
the sled will be 100% complete. It features a 440 liquid
kit motor, 4 band titanium SnoPro track and aluminum
skis. The entire sled is basically brand new." |
